Re:

Hi Baza, Read the breakdown recovery fine print. They sometimes include a clause to say if the recovery cost is judged to exceed the value of the vehicle, then tough, no recovery. Mike The bike recovery with the AA I cannot fault. My K75s caught fire in 2021 in the North of Scotland. The AA were ca...

Re: 1960 R60 Problem

I too thought about heat induced ignition problems and I feel that must point towards the plugs. I had a Norton 650ss years ago (around 1969) and used to get a similar problem when 'letting it off the lead' so to speak and it eventually turned out to be a hairline crack in the ceramic part of one of...

Upgrade to Full Forum Membership

Until recently those members who had paid and were full club members were able to upgrade their forum status to be able to access the restricted to members only area when around 5 weeks ago there was a problem, possible external, which prevented this working. This glitch has now been rectified so al...

Re: New/ointsold member - big question

Officially you cannot advertise on the forum because you are not a club member. However you can try advertising for free on the website run under the publication name of Autotrader. (Just Google Autotrader/bikes). All they ask is for the details of the bike and one photograph. Or you can try the wee...

Re: New (to me) Insurance Co

My mistake, I misread the telephone dialing code and yes it is a B/ham area code. Dooooh!

I think I will give them a trial for this year anyway over £50 less is worth having.

New (to me) Insurance Co

Both of my bikes are currently uninsured for the road, untaxed and on SORN. One of them my R1100RS will need testing towards the end of the month so I will have to insure that one at least. I spoke to Footman James with whom I was insured last year and asked for a quote and I was given a figure of a...

Re: Paid member section

Gentlemen Can I suggest that you contact either myself or AndrewH about this. Griping on the open forum about the inability to access the paid up members section will not get the problem rectified. We have had two instances recently where other members had similar problems to yourselves, but they ar...

Re: bmw.europe-moto.com/gb/

Have you looked at the likes of Motorworks, or Motobins in UK Their prices are usually cheaper than BMW. Just google the name to see what they have on offer. No problems with importing either.

Re: Access paid member sections

I have only just found your complaints by accident. I do not have the time to check every post so it would have been far better to come direct to the admin to try to get it sorted out. If we are not told there may be a problem, nothing gets done! No one else has reported a similar problem. Can you t...

The New Forum - change in procedures

Thanks to the sterling work by Dik Langan the new forum has been up and running for several months now. Personally it has taken me a few of those months to get familiar with it but now it is looking better and getting easier to live with.. There have been a few little niggles along the way and one i...

Re: R1150rs in Tamworth

Welcome to the Club forum indeed. I have a R1100RS which as you know is very similar to the R1100RT just a bit lighter and a lot nimbler I had to get a new set of tyres for it after re-commissioning it following an almost full cosmetic rebuild and found the price of radial tyres locally was stupid/s...

Re: Newby reporting in

Welcome to the forum. My not so long ago ownership of a K75s was the most reliable BMW I have owned and there have been a few since 1987. The RT fairing on the one you have is possibly a bit too heavy for the bike and when I rode one belonging to a pal it was noticeably nose heavy. Why not try to ge...

Re: world wide travel insurance

I too am with LV and they were quite happy to insure me and my K1100 for a years multi trip cover and I am approaching 79! (Something I don't normally mention) I have a couple of medical conditions which were declared and they were quite happy with the history The cover for a year was £156 or therea...
